Nowadays, people are getting more aware that business ecosystem is changing and that each of us is part of it. Also, due to the economic crisis and changes, a lot of people are losing their jobs.

On the other hand, a lot of people are starting their enterprises, but the traditional ones, without any management skills and/or without proper market and local community need´s research (and usually, they end up unsuccessful).

But what is changing and what could change traditional enterprises and, in the same time change local community life, is social entrepreneurship – business that creates employment and reinvests profit back into the business or the local community. Social entrepreneurs are also creating jobs and opportunities for those most marginalized from the workforce, transforming the communities they work in and making the Sustainable Development Goals a reality. As the traditional ones, social enterprises exist in nearly every sector from consumer goods to healthcare, community energy to creative agencies, restaurants to facilities management.

Developed countries already have a really strong social entrepreneurship system/ culture, but, as we are writing from Croatia, we now about nearly 20 businesses that are working as a social enterprise, and what is helping (or should help) is the Strategy of  Development of Social Entrepreneurship in the Republic of Croatia for the period from 2015 to 2020 (see full, in Croatian language, here).
